What We Do ?

  • Protect and preserve : By promoting the reduction of waste, the reuse of materials, and the diversion of househol items from landfill.
  • Collect, reclaim, restore, repurpose, Redistribute unwanted furniture and household materials to individuals and families, prioritizing those in financial hardship.
  • Benefit the Ards & North Down Community: Directly benefit Individuals and families facing financial, physical and mental hardships on a daily basis. We hope to encourage the wider general public to participate in our training and activities.
  • Specifically : target individuals and households in need of training or active learning in repairing, recycling and repurposing quality furniture and household goods. We will provide a space for members/volunteers/trainees to practice skills learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • The broader aspect: Build a positive and practical attitude towards waste reduction, recycling and reuse. It is our intention to reach out to local Ards & Bangor businesses and manufacturing communities to see how we might provide a service in recycling discarded products and non harmful waste materials, which may otherwise be sent to landfill or recycled further afield.
  • Activities & Benefit: Sourcing unwanted, broken, or discarded furniture and household materials from Ards & Bangor residents, businesses and construction clear-outs.
  • Environmental Benefit: Directly diverting heavy, bulky items from landfill, reduce carbon emissions associated with manufacturing new furniture, and promotes A & ND local circular economy principles.
  • Restoration & Repurposing: Repairing,: Upcycling, and transforming reclaimed goods into safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing household items.
  • Resource Preservation: Breath new life into materials that would otherwise be destroyed, wood, paint, textiles, and metals.
  • Affordable Distribution: Selling or donating the repurposed furniture to the community, with a tiered pricing system or referral network for low-income households.
  • Social/Economic Benefit: Help families combat furniture poverty by providing dignified access to essential household goods at a fraction of retail cost.
  • Community Workshops & Training: Running practical sessions in woodwork, upholstery, and furniture repair for volunteers, long-term unemployed individuals, or hobbyists.
  • Educational Benefit: Boost community resilience, teaches valuable practical skills that can lead to employment, reduces social isolation, and educates the public on sustainable living.
